Registered Nurse - Endoscopy

Salary: up to £30,000

Hours: Monday-Sunday, 37.5 hours per week, on a local rota

Location: Bristol


InHealth is CQC registered and a JAG accredited provider of endoscopy services in community gastroenterology clinics and we were the first provider to offer trans-nasal gastroscopy in the UK. With more than 3 million patients seen across InHealth services each year, our team of Registered Nurses and Operating Department Practitioners in Endoscopy provide vital services for patients, delivering the best standard of care and helping to reduce waiting times at local hospitals. As a leading provider of GP lead NHS gastroenterology services, we believe in early diagnosis and treatment.

What you will do:

  • As an InHealth Registered Nurse you will deliver endoscopy services in our sites to the highest standards for our patients, carrying out pre, peri and post endoscopy care, using a model of care that recognises the psychological, physical and social needs of our patients.

What you are responsible for:

  • Maintaining a high level of professionalism, customer care, and service provision
  • Providing a safe care environment, including preparing and clearing up rooms and equipment
  • Taking part in clinical audits
  • Following strict security and health and safety protocols when returning damaged scopes for repair
  • Adhering to the requirements of the Data Protection Act
  • Reporting complaints and incidents to the senior nurse and participate when investigations are required
  • Understanding and working in line with the Health and Safety Policy
  • Demonstrating safe, effective practice in line with policies and procedures
  • Maintaining professional competencies and CPD
  • Completing competency assessments
  • Making sure information is handled and exchanged with care and accuracy, in a timely and sensitive manner, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
  • Maintaining an awareness of the need for good housekeeping, helping to make sure that ward stock levels are kept to optimum agreed limits
  • Complying with ISO standards in respect of Information Security Management.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A Registered Nurse, holding an Advanced Diploma of Higher Education in Nursing BSc. Secondary care or community-based experience in gastroenterology and endoscopy is desirable, but not essential
  • A member of an appropriate professional body and holds a valid registration
  • A team player who is supportive, reliable and trustworthy, who gets stuck in and creates a positive atmosphere
  • Good at customer services and takes pride in their work
  • A person who naturally instils confidence in everyone they work with
  • Calm in challenging situations, working well under pressure
  • Self-awareness and self-motivated to develop themselves
  • A colleague who is flexible and adaptable
  • A person who makes good decisions
  • Approachable, dedicated and hardworking, and presents a professional image
  • Able to demonstrate an appreciation of patient care and confidentiality
  • Aware of the implications of the Data Protection Act and Caldicott Principles
  • Computer literate, with accurate data entry skills and attention to detail
  • Understanding of the Primary Care agenda
  • Apt at improving quality
  • A great communicator at all levels, with strong written, verbal and listening skills.

  • Working within a hospital or mobile environment
  • Working within a multi-disciplined team
  • Previously working in endoscopy would be beneficial
  • Proven safety awareness skills when it comes to examination equipment.
